South Africa: Limpopo Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla, joined by Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba, will launch breast cancer awareness month at Sekhukhune district.
In his state of the Province address, the Hon. Premier Chupu Stanely Mathabatha made a commitment to the people of Limpopo that all our five districts will receive CT scans fitted with PACS RIS system. Sekhukhune is our last district to finally receive this critical radiology equipment which goes a long way in reducing referrals to tertiary hospitals.
The Premier further acknowledged that people in rural areas die of breast cancer as a result of late diagnosis and committed that the department of health must ensure that all our districts have mammogram machines. Sekhukhune district will be the second one to receive this diagnostic equipment towards the number two killer cancer disease amongst our African women.
Against this background, our leaders will launch the October breast cancer awareness month by commissioning and handing over these high technology equipments to the people of Sekhukhune in St Ritas hospital because to us Rural health Matters.
