The Director of Operations, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Katlholo Mosimanegape has encouraged the newly appointed Crime Prevention Cluster Policing Neutral Panelists to carry out their mandate diligently.
Speaking at a one-day training workshop for the Neutral Panelists in Palapye today (14/02/2024), Mosimanegape said the training was vital for the effective and efficient evaluation of Community Policing Cluster performances across the country which contributes to the successful holding of the Annual Community Policing Cluster Awards ceremony.
He said the cluster evaluation process acts as feedback that allows clusters to know how they have performed in the fight against crime in their respective areas.
He noted that the performance assessment was an activity held periodically to determine the nature of the Award given to a particular Cluster. The Director said the objective of the training was to equip all Neutral Panelists with the knowledge and skills required to evaluate cluster performance in preparation for the upcoming 12th Annual Cluster Policing Awards.
On other issues, Senior Assistant Commissioner Mosimanegape informed the participants that the reduction in certain offences is due to strong cooperation between the police and the community. He further appreciated the contribution of all stakeholders involved in the fight against crime.
When welcoming participants at the workshop, the Acting Divisional Commander of North Central, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Goabamang Mmadintsi appreciated the workshop, adding that it will strengthen the relationship between the Police and the Community.
She said the forum would also promote sharing ideas on how to fight crime in the country. The Acting Divisional Commander went on to urge the participants to work hard and acquire the skills necessary to effectively assess and evaluate the performance of clusters in their respective areas.
For his part, Kgosi Prince Obuseng of Lecheng Village, who is also the Police District No.2 Cluster Chairperson, called on communities to refrain from criminal activities and work together with the police to curb crime.
