South Africa: The Reaction Unit of South Africa has arrested a 26-year-old man after he broke into an office on Russom Street in Verulam – KZN. The incident happened in the afternoon of Thursday. The suspect’s accomplice in the crime fled the scene before the RUSA officers could reach.
The officials have shared some images from the scene of the crime and the arrest of the individual. Meanwhile, the face of the suspect was blurred out to protect his identity and avoid recognition.
Some social media users have questioned RUSA why they have blurred the face of the incident.
The officials revealed that the suspect was hiding in the walk-in closet of the office that he had initially broken into. The reaction unit officers were informed of the break-in of the office building in the early hours of the afternoon.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the property after a suspect forcefully gained entry into the premises. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered that a window pane had been removed.
Officers penetrated the building and discovered a door leading to one of the offices locked. At this point, the Reaction Unit South Africa Members obtained permission from the property owner. After they were given the all-clear to enter, some officials forced their way in.
The suspect was discovered hiding in a built-in cupboard. The officials took him out of his hideout and confronted the suspect to get the details of the incident. The suspect informed the officers that he was accompanied by another accomplice during the break-in.
He further explained to the officers that his accomplice fled as Reaction Officers entered the yard. The suspect is a known offender and resident of The Canelands – KZN.
He further stated that he was released from Westville Prison last month (January 2024) after serving a three (3) month sentence for drug peddling. He was detained at SAPS Verulam after the Reaction Officers arrested him.
The people of the country have offered their best wishes to Reaction Unit officers for their swift action and dedication to curbing crime in the country. One of the users even went on to claim that the Reaction Officers are doing a better job than the South African Police Service.
