Zambia: The southern province police force has received reports of a suicide incident in Mazabuka town. The deceased has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself using a rope attached to the roofing timber.
The incident happened on Tuesday after the deceased was engaged in a domestic dispute in the country. The deceased was found hanging from their bedroom between 22:00 hours and 23:30 hours.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Wefa Mainza. The police officials have started their investigation into the matter.
The officials revealed that the victim took his life after a domestic dispute with his wife after she discussed a business opportunity with him. The wife of the deceased was identified as 31-year-old Exildah Miyoba.
The disagreement between the couple happened after she proposed to start an inter-province business of buying and selling wrappers.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka shared the details of the incident with the media through an official statement. After the investigation started, the officials noted that a fight erupted and the wife managed to flee for safety with her children.
After this, the husband proceeded to lock himself in his bedroom and later commit suicide. Brotha Madula reported the incident to Mazabuka Police. He is the Chairperson of the Neighborhood Watch Committee.
Acting on the report, Police rushed to the scene and found the deceased in a two-roomed flat. The apartment was locked from the inside using a metal bar.
Daka states that entry was gained by force using a metal bar, after which the deceased was found hanging on the roof.
