Zimbabwe: Twelve local swimmers have been sent to Durban, South Africa to compete at the South Africa Junior Age Group Championships. The championship will be held from March 15 to 20, 2024 at Kings Park Swimming Pool.
The participants were asked to depart for South Africa on March 14, 2024. The qualified swimmers will be accompanied by coach Ricardo Joe and manager Tendai Manenji.
Harare and Bulawayo teams will have five swimmers each. While, Mashonaland Country Districts and Matabeleland South have one swimmer each, who will compete at the championship.
The SANJ team will consist of Neema Bhulabhai, Nathan Chibva, Callum Chisholm, Ethan Donzva, Sibusiso Fayayo, Bohan Guo, Alexis Johnsen, Kwandokuhle Nkomazana, Joshah Siwela, Khaya Vimba, Teak Watson and Susie Worsfold.
As per the sources, the competition will be held under the auspices of the SSA Rules and Regulations. The technical specifications of the sport are specified by World Aquatics. All competitors must be registered members affiliated with SSA.
The athletes who will be visiting must be affiliated with World Aquatics, affiliation members, and these members must have clearance from their federation.
Reportedly, the Dress Code of the competitors is that they must be neatly attired in uniform, such as team tracksuits and closed footwear, at the presentation ceremony.
The teams with athletes who will not be appropriately attired at the medal ceremonies will be charged with fines automatically.
The medal ceremony will be held five to fifteen minutes after the competition or event begins, during which no media interviews shall be arranged.
Moreover, competitors who do not present themselves on time for medal presentations in the correct attire will forfeit their medals and points, and the team will be fined.
All the participants were asked to submit the names of available, qualified, experienced technical officials to appoint duties to the LOC by March 01, 2024.
Notably, all participating clubs need to provide names of the available Technical Officials for all session where the swimmers will participate. The appointment of Technical Officials will be done by the LOC.
Considerably, all officials must adhere to the established dress code, Navy blue bottoms such as long pants, trousers, long skirts or shorts can be worn for the morning ceremony.
