Mauritius: A group of athletes from Mauritious who will be competing for the Paris Paralympics have left for Paris. The Summer paralympics will be hosted from August 28 to September 8.
The athletes have departed from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Plaisance on Wdnesday. They are preparing for the upcoming competitions which they will be participating in on the behalf if the nation.
The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports, and Recreation, Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint paid a visit to the delegation before their departure. The delegation bound for Paris included athletes, representatives of the para athletes federation, coaches, and other sports stakeholders.
The delegation was led by Jean Marie Malepa and is constituted by six para-athletes. The names of all the athletes have been listed:
- Noemi Alphonse
- Brandy Perrine
- Angeline Anaïs
- Yovanni Phillippe
- Roberto Michel
- Eddy Capdor.
Minister Toussaint interacted with the delegation and highlighted their anticipations for the Para Athletic event. According to him, the nation expects to see the athletes giving their best performance for the upcoming athletic events.
The athletes’ from Mauritius have been highly successful in their recent sports competitions. As such, the expectations from the athletes are high across the nation. The sports stakeholders expect that the athletes will be able to bring them a medal.
Further the Minister of Sports has urged the people of the nation to rally behind the athletes and show their support. He called on people to display the flag of Mauritius in their respective houses and vehicles.
This will allow the members of the athletes to ascertain that they have the support of the people of the nation as they compete for the glory of the nation.
The 2024 Summer Paralympics will be the 17th edition of the Summer Paralympic Games. The sports eventis being organized by the members of the International Paralympic Committee.
The 2024 edition of the event is historic for various reasons. One of the chief reasons for the same is that the Paralympic Opening Ceremony will be held outside of a stadium this year. Athletes will parade through the Avenue des Champs-Elysees to Place de la Concorde.
