Botswana: The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Wynter Boipuso Mmolotsi, is conducting a site formalization tour. He started the visit of the of the Kasane-Kazungula Redevelopment Project on 19 December. The visit concluded on Friday 20 of December 2024.
Day 1 of the tour started with the Minister paying courtesy call on the district leadership. During this Courtesy Call, the Minister participated in many meetings and discussions to get familiar with the district’s most prominent issues.
After this meeting, Minister Mmolotsi visited several projects in Kasane. The places which he visited included three proposed priority tourism sites. The tourism sites are being developed with the aim of enhancing the region’s appeal among international travellers.
The Tourism organization has been working hard to position Botswana as a premier travel destination for international tourists.
The minister had the opportunity to see the Chobe River Front which is a famous tourist spot. The Minister and the delegation explored the various tourism offerings of Chobe National Park during the familiarization visit.
The Minister said that they had the opportunity to experience boat tour and appreciate the beauty of the region
This Kasane-Kazungula Redevelopment Project is a proof of the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism development and community empowerment.
On the second day the Minister visited the Kazungula Waterfront where the officials announced the plans for a tourism priority site. This location has the potential to turn Kazungula into a destination for sustainable tourism development.
The organization is looking for ways for harnessing its the natural beauty and significance of the place for tourists.
The Minister also visited the Kazungula Bridge. The bridge connects Botswana and Zambia and is a symbol of unity and regional growth. The bridge is strategically placed along the One-Stop Border Post.
The bridge and its position prove to be highly beneficial for cross-border travel, trade, and tourism in Southern Africa.
Minister Mmolotsi said that it is important to come up with sustainable tourism opportunities that benefit local communities. The Ministry wants to achieve this mandate while preserving the environment.
