St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew provided designated title to the residents of Upper Monkey Hill in St. Peter’s. The nation brought justice to the people on Friday evening, October 16, 2025, who were living on these lands without proper titles.
Reportedly, the titles were handed over under the Land Regularisation Policy of St. Kitts and Nevis. The policy ensures that the people receive legal ownership of the lands on which they are surviving for generations.
PM Drew shared the glimpses from the official handover ceremony and stated that on Friday evening, he journeyed to Upper Monkey Hill in St. Peter’s to bring justice to the people. He said that for over a century, the residents have lived on these lands without proper titles.
Drew further mentioned that through the Land Regularisation Policy, St. Kitts and Nevis have begun the journey to ensure that the people receive legal ownership of the lands that they have called home for generations. He emphasised that this is a historic step that will empower families to build wealth, achieve security and know that with certainty, their land is legally theirs.
Prime Minister Drew also acknowledged the Labour Party and said that the government has a vision, compassion and commitment to make this initiative possible.
While handing over the title, during the ongoing ceremony PM Terrance Drew stated that people who are living there are the real owner of their land. He read a congratulatory letter in front of all, who were present there at the ceremony, and said Congratulations to the people and their families on behalf on their recent land ownership.
He showed the letter to the residents, which includes the survey conducted, which also includes a certificate, that is not free and has an official signature, and is a real proof that the residents are the real owner of the land, and called it as real piece of life.
