St. Kitts and Nevis passed Appropriation (2026) Bill in parliament. Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew as a Minister of Finance delivered a presentation on the Bill under the theme: ‘Investing in People and Progress’.
Reportedly, the Appropriation (2026) Bill, 2025 with total estimates for 2026 of EC$1.075 billion for recurrent expenditure, capital expenditure and net lending was passed into law on Friday, Dec 19, 2025.
Prime Minister Drew, while presenting the bill reiterated all of the things they have done for their people and all of the opportunities that the people would have continued to invest in progress. Drew added that people can look forward to more construction, houses and resources to cut the cost of living with all these things they are talking about such as – more jobs.
He addressed the Parliament and underscored the commitment of government to economic diversification while maintaining the strategic value of the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme and emphasised that stronger laws and safeguards remain central to protect the national interest.
Drew further stated that St. Kitts and Nevis federation is diversifying the CBI and they would still like to have this programme as it can help and be part of a diversified economy. He also highlighted that they have tightened and strengthened the laws that made it vigorous and they will continue to make the necessary changes so that they can continue to protect the country and the people.
Prime Minister Drew wrapped up the 2026 Budget Debate by highlighting the action-oriented approach of the Government and described a financial plan that moves beyond the dialogue and delivers measurable progress for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
He clarified all that this budget is clearly a budget and St. Kitts and Nevis is investing in progress where they are converting the conversations into action.
Notably, the Appropriation (2026) Bill, 2025, (Budget) was passed by the Members of Parliament and it received favourable reviews from four members of the Opposition.
