St. Kitts and Nevis: The ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party observed its 94th Annual National Conference on Sunday, May 17, 2026 under the theme “Labour Strong – United in Purpose, Committed to Progress.” During the gathering they reaffirmed their commitment towards national development, unity and progress.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew addressed the party supporters and delegates and described the Labour movement as both “a declaration of confidence” and “a declaration of purpose” from and to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. He reflected on the long-standing contribution by the party to develop the nation. He also noted that many of the country’s defining moments of progress have carried the “fingerprints” of the Labour Party.
Dr. Drew emphasised that the party is proud of its historical achievements and is focusing firmly on the future. He said that the government remains committed to strengthen communities, create greater opportunities and ensure that every citizen has the ability to thrive in a more prosperous and inclusive society.
The Prime Minister declared “The Work Continues” and reinforced the ongoing development agenda of the administration. The Labour Party also used the conference to highlight what it described as visible progress taking place across the federation despite criticism from opponents.
Furthermore, the labour party officials stated that while some may attempt to downplay, dismiss or distort the country’s advancement, the achievements being made are evident to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, but also to the wider Caribbean region and international community.
Special guest speaker, Lisa Jawahir, was praised by party members for her remarks that echoed the Labour Party’s mission of improving the lives of citizens and advancing national development.
Party representatives further stressed that the movement remained focused and undeterred in its pursuit of progress. “We will not be distracted. We will not be deterred. We will not be pulled off course,” the party stated, and added that its primary objective continues to be building a stronger future for every citizen.
Scenes shared by PM Drew on his official social media handle from the conference showcased strong support and participation from party members and supporters, as the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party recognised as the oldest political party in the English-speaking Caribbean and celebrated its legacy and reaffirmed its commitment to national progress.
