St. Kitts and Nevis: The St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) unveiled its new combat uniform during a ceremonial march through the streets of Basseterre on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. It was conducted as part of activities marking the 59th anniversary of the failed June 10, 1967 insurrection.
Members of the Defence Force marched along Church Street which was led by the Acting Commander Major – Kayode Sutton. They passed through the Government Headquarters, where Prime Minister and Minister of National Security – Dr. Terrance Drew addressed the soldiers and praised them for their steadfast commitment to national service.

Prime Minister Drew commended the men and women of the SKNDF for their professionalism, dedication and unwavering efforts in safeguarding the Federation. He also paid tribute to the servicemen who courageously defended the nation during the events of June 10, 1967. They described their actions as instrumental in preserving the country’s sovereignty and democratic institutions.
Reportedly, the June 10, 1967 insurrection saw armed Anguillian insurgents launch an attack on Camp Springfield in an attempt to overthrow the lawfully elected Governments of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla. The assault was successfully repelled by members of the then St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Defence Force, whose discipline, bravery and resolve helped in maintaining constitutional order and national stability.

It is an annual observance that serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the ones who stood in defence of the nation during one of the most significant moments in its history. It also highlights the enduring role of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force in protecting the security, stability and democratic values of the Federation.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew shared glimpses from the event on his official social media handle and stated that the proud men and women of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force unveiled their new combat uniform on June 10th.
He added that as they marched through the streets of Basseterre, they reminded them that the security and stability they enjoy are made possible by those who stand ready to defend the nation. He thanked every member of the SKNDF for their commitment, sacrifice and professionalism.
