The Minister for State President, Defence and Security, Moeti Caesar Mohwasa, visited Serule Police Station in Botswana on 31 August, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to examine the condition of the police station and assess the infrastructural challenges that require attention.
The Minister was accompanied by the Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Lethogonolo Barongwang. According to reports. The visit to the Police Station was an ongoing effort of the Governments to ensure that public service infrastructure remains safe and functional.
Through the visit administration made sure that public service infrastructure can remain safe, functional and capable of supporting effective service delivery to the community. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Gorata Moleboge also accompanied the officials during the inspection.
During the visit, she also shared the details and history of the Serule Police Station with the officials. She explained that the police station was constructed during the 2003/2004 financial year and officially commissioned in 2005. She further stated that over the years the structure of the police station developed several defects which now requires administrative attention.
Moleboge mentioned that the updates in the police station will improve the efficiency of the working environment for officers. Additionally, Keemenao Abotseng a Civil and Structural Engineer who works in the DEBS Department of Building and Engineering Services presented the technical assessment of the police station building in which he also shared the structural defects.
Further he recommended remedial works which need urgent attention and mentioned other structural problems with administration representatives. Additionally, Deputy Commissioner of Police Stephen Tsheko (Support Service) accompanied the Administration officials and senior officials from the Botswana Police Service and the Ministry of Transport and infrastructure were also part of the Ministerial visit.
