Cape Town: The city is supporting ‘A Day of 1000 Opportunities’ returning to Athlone Stadium on Thursday, April 16, 2026. It will be hosted by CapeBPO, which is city’s Special purpose vehicle (SPV).
A Day of 1000 Opportunities is a direct path for job-hunting youth into the flourishing contact centre industry. The event will kick off at 08:00 a.m. and will be observed until 05:00 p.m. The attendees need to bring a certified copy of their IDs or driver’s licence. Marshals will be on site to show people where to go.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth – Alderman James Vos stated that through the service delivery agreement with CapeBPO they have deliberately positioned them as an SPV. With this they will drive initiatives like A Day of 1000 Opportunities because of the massive job creation potential in the BPO sector.
Vos added that this is not any other job fair. CapeBPO team, together with 12 of the biggest contact centre operators in Cape Town, will be at Athlone Stadium and will offer practical career guidance, interviews and an offer to receive training for those who might not get signed up on the day.
He added that what really stands out for him is seeing the energy from young people being connected to real opportunities and knowing that step-by-step they are helping to shorten that unemployment queue.
Alderman Vos explained that this is a real opportunity to get your foot in the door of one of Cape Town’s most consistent job-creating sectors. The BPO industry already employs over 100,000 people in the city, which shows just how strong the demand is. And because they continue to attract more companies in this space, that demand is only growing. So if you’re serious about finding work, this is definitely something you don’t want to miss. Vos thanked all the companies who will be taking part, and all who played a huge part in making this a success.
CEO of CapeBPO – Clayton Williams said that ‘A Day of 1000 Opportunities’ really shows what is possible when the public and private sectors work together with clear focus on jobs. Through CapeBPO’s partnerships with operators and industry players, they are creating practical pathways for young people to enter the sector and build a career. They are looking forward to welcome aspiring talent and helping them take that first step.
