Kenya is celebrating the culture and heritage of the Abamarachi people by hosting the annual Edwa Cultural and Sports event. The event was hosted at the Butula Polytechnic in Butula Sub-County, Busia County.
The aim of the event is to ensure that all the communities of the country can continue to celebrate their respective cultures. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports also supported the initiative and members of the ministry were present at the event.
The Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ababu Namwamba, attended the annual Edwa Cultural and Sports event as a chief guest.
He shared his experience of the event through several images on social media. He also shared that he was happy to see the dedication of the organisers to making the event a resounding success.
According to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the event is meant to appreciate the culture and heritage of the Abamarachi people. The people seek to do this by bringing together people from across the nation to celebrate and appreciate the community’s way of life and their cultural identity.
CS Ababu Namwamba hailed organisers for putting forth an event that seeks to promote the community’s sense of belonging and identity. He further promised to support the events in next year’s edition.
He also reiterated President Ruto’s resolve not to leave anyone behind as he steers the nation to greater an all-inclusive government regardless of where one voted.
CS Ababu is also committed to ensuring the Abamarachi Cultural Centre/sporting arena is fully done to completion to ensure young people benefit and their cultural heritage is preserved for the future general.
He also confirmed that Butula Boys National School has also been elevated and has been given a mandate to serve as one of the 50 Talent Development centres in Kenya.
The people of Kenya shared their appreciation for Cabinet Secretary Namwamba and his team for highlighting the various communities. Social media users applauded CS Namwamba’s commitment to caring for the people of the various communities.
