Africa: Africa Weather Forecast launched their climate summary for this week from 27 to 03 of December, in which they reported hot weather throughout the week but slightly less so on Wednesday due to a cold front encouraging partly cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms over the central, south-eastern and eastern regions.

A wide upper-air high-pressure cell spanning almost the entire SADC region will dispense intense heat throughout the country, especially on Monday and Tuesday.

A cold front will promote the development of isolated storms in the east on Monday and scattered in the east and southeast on Tuesday. Along the southern regions, the cold front moves the rain and thunderstorms into the Eastern Cape on Wednesday, with afternoon thunderstorms expected over the eastern provinces.

Otherwise, intense heat is expected to return to the south and southeast after a brief warm period midweek, while the rest of the country will have maintained high temperatures.

MONDAY: Fine and hot, particularly over the Cape interior (43°C in Upington), with a medium chance of isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the east, but high over Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal and low in the northern Highveld. Low chance of high-impact thunderstorms with hail and strong winds over KwaZulu-Natal late in the afternoon.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY: High chance of strong W-NW winds over the central Cape on Tuesday and light rainfall from thunderstorms scattered over the Highveld on both afternoons. The difference is that on Wednesday, moderate rainfall is expected along the eastern escarpment (central Mpumalanga). Medium chance of light rainfall along the south and southeast coasts on both days, with isolated thunderstorms over the Eastern Cape and eastern Karoo.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: Medium chance of scattered thunderstorms with light rainfall over the north-eastern Highveld on Thursday but isolated with dry, windy thunderstorms over the central parts on Friday. Otherwise, the rest of the country will be fine and hot on both days, especially the Cape interior.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: A belt of tropical moisture that intensifies in the southeast ( Eastern Cape) on Saturday but in the east (KwaZulu-Natal) on Sunday and an upper air trough in the southwest leads to a high chance of showers and thundershowers over the central regions, further exacerbating the persistent heat in the northeast and far west.
