Zambia: The President of the Football Association of Zambia, Andrew Kamanga, has urged clubs to refrain from engaging in match fixing. He called the practice an unfair vice that takes away from the integrity of the game.
The FAZ president made these remarks during the launch of the Zambia Premier League-ZPL Consultative Meeting. The event was hosted on Monday at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka.
The President of the Football Association shared that they are dedicated to bringing the best of the sport out for the people to see. Football is one of the biggest and most loved sport in the African continent.
Millions of fans come together to watch the sport and cheer for their favorites. The sport has seen remarkable growth in several African nations, including Zambia. The proof of this growth comes from the countless times that the Zambian Mens’ and Womens’ teams have made the country proud with their international performances.
Accordingly, Football Association of Zambia knows and understands the significance of the sport among the people. The President of the Football Association of Zambia, Andrew Kamanga is thus advocating to refrain from diminishing the value of the game among fans.
While addressing the ZPL consultative meeting, Kamanga stated that FAZ had embarked on the initiative to use the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology. The aim of the new initiative is to try and curb possible match fixing.
Kamanga said the fight for relegation and getting to the top of the championship could open the door for possible transgressions. Accordingly, the organization under his charge needs to stay alert to ensure that no cheating takes place.
The Football Association wants to ensure that the results are determined on the pitch and not through underhand methods.
Meanwhile, ZPL Chairman Kephas Katongo said they will strive to professionalize the way clubs manage their teams. The people of the country are delighted with the dedication of the organization in the development of football in Zambia.
