It will be glamour, fun, and a festival of heritage on Saturday as Bafumbira celebrates the Duhuze festival held at Central Park, along Old Kira road in Kampala.
As per the statement of the organizers, they organized the event so that they could bind the youth as they celebrate Bafumbira heritage as well as cement and build robust youth and cultural network.Â
Due to the Duhuze festival, many youths will bring together Bafumbira, Banyakigezi and friends of Bafumbira to help the group reveal their identity and tap into the uniqueness of youthful power and energy of youth through exquisite event experiences, among others,” the organizers said.
The event ticket will go for shs10,000 each, and this will also see revellers enjoy several games, interact, connect and network.Â
During the event, the Bafumbira, who are people hailing from the Southwestern district of Kisoro, will have a guest performance from Melvyn Deejay.
This festival is a four-day Easter holiday festival, and they target mainly the group of Bafumbira youth of Kampala and nearby areas so that they can celebrate it with the Duhuze festival.Â
Furthermore, organizers of the festival are meant to erase the notion that celebrating heritage is boring and is older for the older generation. The Bafumbira are a community of people who make modern Uganda. They live in the district of Kisoro in Southwestern Uganda.
It is our responsibility as young to bring bafumbira, banyakigezi, and bafumbira friends together. We are encouraged by the youth’s excitement and support for the project on social media channels. The Kampala Sun quoted Stephen Muneza, one of the organizers, as saying, “We are anticipating enormous participation and involvement.”
According to Muneza, the event occurs on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at ‘Central Perk’, Old Kira Road and will have a guest performance from Melvyn Deejay. The entrance is 10k.
