Botswana: The Botswana Defense Force officer Lance Corporal Bakwena Modimoeng was laid to rest on Saturday. The people of the country came to the Thamaga Village to pay their respects to the departed soul.
The members of the community have shared that they are devastated by the loss of the 31-year-old soldier. The officials have shared that he lost his life in a road accident while the officer, along with some other officers, was patrolling the Letlhakane Village.
The people of the country have shared that the other officers who were involved in the accident are either receiving treatment, or have recovered. The officers were on national duty to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season.
The aim of the programme was to make sure that the community does not lead to serious incidents and or injuries. The people expressed their condolences on the death of the BDF Officer. Some attendants of the funeral service shared their experiences working with or interacting with the officer.
The departed soul was described as epitome of humility. The speaker said that he sacrificed so much for his country in a short period of his career. At the same time, the officer was a man of good standing in society, with incredible behavioral attributes to his credit.
Commander of the Botswana Defence Force, Lieutenant General Placid Segokgo was one of the officers to pay his respects to the officer. The other officers included, Director General Support Services, Major General Molefi Seikano, Commander of the Ground Forces Command, Major General Simon Barwabatsile, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Katlholo Mosimanegape,
The Director of Traffic, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pilane Sebigi, and other high-ranking officials were also present at the event. The law enforcement officers said that it is the responsibility of the community to continue paying tribute to the memory of the departed soldier.
The officers further said that the heroes never die and that they are never forgotten. The motorist, responsible for the accident has been presented in court on eight charges.
