Botswana: The government of Botswana is getting ready to welcome their athletes to the nation after significant pomp and show after the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Paris Olympics have made history for several nations all over the world, with several athletes clinching the first ever Olympic victories for their respective nations. Botswanan athletes have also made waves in several athletic events.
The officials have shared that the athletes will be returning to the country at approximately 14:35 hours on Tuesday. Officials have shared that the members of the community will be welcoming the successful athletes with pride.
Upon arrival, the team will be escorted by a motorcade from the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (SSKIA). From the airport, the team of athletes will be travelling to the National Stadium.
At the stadium the athletes will interact with members of the public and the members of the media. The officials have shared that they want to honor the athletes who have made the nation proud in Paris during the Olympics events.
The officials have shared that the members of the community will have the opportunity to hear about the athlete’s experience in the Olympics competition. The officials have also shared the rest of the schedule for the welcome of the athletes.
According to the official schedule, President Dr Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi, The President of the Republic of Botswana, will officially welcome the team at the airport. Afterwards, he will also be present at the National Stadium where a homecoming ceremony will take place to welcome the Olympics athletes.
The officials have extended a warm invitation to the people of the country to turn up in large numbers. The celebration at the National Stadium will start at approximately at 13:30 hours to welcome Team Botswana.
Media personnel who wish to attend and cover Team Botswana’s homecoming ceremony are have to register with Botswana Government Communications and Information Systems (BGCIS) office for accreditation by Tuesday 13th August 2024 @ 10:00 hours.
