Botswana: Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) organized an end of year activity for team building for its staff in Rasesa on Saturday.
They organised enjoyable activities to test team bonding, encourage collaboration, and provided a chance for employees to relax outside the workplace.
BNYC Programmes Coordinator Caiphus Kopelang appreciated his team for promoting unity and upholding solidarity in the workplace.
Kopelang added that unhealthy formal and informal relationships can be a hindrance towards productivity in the workplace. He advised the staff to execute their work according to their duties and to follow the hierarchy in the workplace to allow a smooth flow of tasks.
When giving a motivational talk to the BNYC staff, Reverend Mmachakga Mpho Moruakgomo noted that failure to understand selves as individuals has led to gender-based violence in all places. He noted that Botswana is an angry nation, which is evident from their aggressive approach towards their colleagues.
He added that healthy relationships are key towards the foundation of having peace within oneself, in which once an individual has peace, it becomes easier to pass it on to the other person.
For her part, Kamogelo Matlala, a Public Administration and Sociology student at the University of Botswana, highlighted that good working relationships in the workplace start from trust, respect and communication.
She added that establishing boundaries and differentiating life inside and outside work is quite key in order to work well with others.
On the order fulfilled and educational series of occasions, the team engaged in activities such as Batsumi, where each team went on a bush hunt in search of hidden words to complete a given sentence which the aim of the game was to promote teamwork and coordination, the secret pal where the staff bought gifts for each other unknowingly with the aim of avoiding divisions and promoting unity in the workplace.
