Botswana: Botswana Youth, Gender, and Sports Department concluded 2023 with a remarkable celebration on Monday.
As per the reports, they celebrated the first day of the year with fun activities and a celebration of the musical talent of the country. The country celebrated the City Lights Music Festivals, which include calling music composers and singers.
MYSC was responsible for organizing the City Lights Music Festival at Royal Aria. The organizers teamed up with Gilbert Promotions to organize the event. Alongside were sponsors such as BTV, RB2 and BEPA among others.
The stage was set ablaze, and the countdown to 2024 began. Lined up to entertain the crowd was a collection of Botswana’s finest performers, such as A I, Gouveia and LATTY. DJ Fresh SA and Mlindo The Vocalist were among the international acts.
Reports also indicated that the mood at the event was jubilant as attendants flooded to usher in the new year.
“A merry atmosphere in which people of different descents came to see 2023 through in style. Fireworks and stunning pyrotechnics adorned the night sky as the clock passed midnight into the new year. The event left energies high as many are getting poised to take on 2024,” stated reports.
As per the reports, South African Musician Lehlogonolo Chauke, popularly known as “Shebeshxt”, has failed to show up for yet another Botswana show. He was supposed to attend this New Year event, but he failed to do that.
“Shebeshxt” had missed a last event too, which is the Amapiano festival dubbed “Simply Piano.” The organizers then instituted legal action against him, which was followed by an arrest warrant.
The warrant was then quashed, provided he refunded Simply Piano organizers. Despite being eligible to perform after the refund, Shebeshxt still went on to miss Kgatleng Xmas Eve, which was held yesterday on New Year at Staywell Gardens.
Revellers who attended the event to witness the musician live in action have since expressed utter displeasure at the event hosts.
