Botswana: The Acting President of the Republic of Botswana, Slumber Tsogwane, has encouraged Batswana to unite and work together to complement the efforts of the Government.

Officially opening the Vision 2036 Commemorations in Charleshill today, the Acting President Slumber Tsogwane said Batswana must revive the spirit of self-reliance and self-determination as the strength of a nation lies in individual varied capabilities, national unity in diversity and purpose.

President Slumber Tsogwane narrated that Vision 2036 is a national transformational agenda that defines the aspirations and goals of Botswana and aims to transform the country from an upper middle-income country to a high-income country by 2036.

The Vision 2036 commemorations were held under the theme “Tebelopele ya 2036: A re chencheng dikakanyo, boitshwaro le makutlo; tsaya karolo”. The theme challenges Botswana as individuals and collectively to reflect on the role and achievements made towards the realization of Vision 2036 aspirations.

The Acting President, Slumber Tsogwane, said Botswana need to introspect on how they reason and how they aim to do things for themselves and the nation. He further stated that less than 13 years are left before the delivery of “Prosperity For All” by the year 2036 and that every person has a role to play towards transforming Botswana to a high-income status.

“Our mindsets play a significant role in attaining success or failure. Our aspiration to become a high-income economy can only be successful if we assume the right mindset”, said the Acting President. He added that there was a need to promote the spirit of hard work to achieve prosperity and that the nation needed to change its thinking, attitude and behaviour.

Botswana residents appreciate the initiative of the President and say he is setting a perfect example for other leaders. One of the locals said, “Lead by example.” “The way to go towards success,” said another user.
