Botswana: The Senior Management of Botswana Prison Service is hosting a 3-day Strategic Retreat at the Prison Staff College, Mahalapye. The aim of the workshop is to develop the organisational Annual Performance Plan for the Financial Year 2024/2025.
The Senior Superintendents of the Botswana Prison Services are present at the venue of the annual meeting. The detailed list of the attendants includes Officers in Charge, Heads of Units from the Prisons Headquarters, Divisional Command South and Divisional Command North.
Director – Training, Senior Assistant Commissioner Boitshepho Nfila welcomed the participants of the workshop meeting. The event was hosted on Tuesday where Nfila asked the participants to think of new initiatives to help make a difference.
She asserted that they want to take the Botswana Prison Service to great heights.
SACP Nfila implored the participants to align their plans with the framework of the Government of Botswana. The said framework has asked the country’s people to become innovative, creative and work smart.
“𝘎𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘭𝘺, 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢, 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺,” she said.
During the three-day retreat, the senior management staff will work towards the plan to deliver Vision 2036 goals and aspirations. The officials seek to develop a performance plan to drive the Service towards becoming a Model Institution of Correctional Excellence.
Through the workshop, the administration wants the Senior Management to develop their stations/units. The new developments are aligned to the Reset and Reclaim Agenda commitments.
The agenda is expected to give a boost to the economy of Botswana. Through this initiative, the middle-income economy can be taken to high-income status.
The authorities are intensifying cost containment and increasing revenue collection mechanisms to meet this mandate.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Prisons – Commissioner Anthony Mokento will address all the Officers in Charge/Heads of Units on Wednesday; The address is expected to take place at the venue before proceeding to Machaneng Prison on the same day.
The Commissioner is also expected to address Mahalapye Prison Staff and Prisoners on Thursday, 28 March 2024.
