Botswana: Six men appear before different courts for stock theft

Botswana, Southern Africa: In the ongoing Operation Kgomakhumo in the Kgatleng District, six men aged between 28 and 33 appeared before Mochudi, Artesia and Lents Weletau customary Courts facing separate charges of Stealing Stock.

Botswana, Southern Africa: In the ongoing Operation Kgomakhumo in the Kgatleng District, six men aged between 28 and 33 appeared before Mochudi, Artesia and Lents Weletau customary Courts facing separate charges of Stealing Stock.

Omphile Modise, aged 32, and Onkarabile Modise, aged 28, from Artesia village, appeared before Lentsweletau Customary Court on Wednesday (12/07/23).

The duo was arrested on Sunday (09/07/23) after they were found in possession of five cows, also suspected to be stolen at Mannyalanong pan near Kgope village in Kweneng.

Ontiretse Tumelo, aged 33 years of Artesia village, appeared before Artesia customary court after he was found in possession of two cows also suspected to be stolen at one of the reservoirs in Artesia village.

On the other hand, Badisa Mooketsi Modise, popularly known as Small or Setuntwane, appeared before Mochudi Customary Court on Monday (1307/2023) along with other accused persons Ofertse Gare and Kopano Peolware of Mochudi are facing charges of stealing Stock.

The trio were arrested in connection with some suspected stolen calves that were found at Golden Springs Feedlot in Rasesa on the 23rd of June 2020.

Peolwane and Gare were arrested on the 24th of June 2023 in a Bank at Pilane, where they tried to do a transaction relating to the sale of the calves to Golden Springs Feedlot.

Solunteane was later arrested for supplying the duo with fake documents of identity to facilitate the sale of the calves to the feedlot on the 23rd of June, 2023.

The trio will be back in court on the 27th of June 2023.
