Zambia: A road traffic accident happened at Renamo Area, situated 32 km west of Nyimba Town. The accident involved a Scania bus and a Nissan Navara and happened around 13:30hrs on Sunday.
The bus with registration number ALK 7846 was owned by Jonda Bus Tour Believe and was driven by Lottie Mwale. The 36-year-old bus driver was a resident of the Chipata Motel and was traveling with 53 passengers on board.
The bus was travelling from Chipata to Lusaka at the time of the accident. The collision with the Nissan Navara resulted in damages to the windscreen, left side view mirror, passenger door, bull bar, front fender, left fender, and power steering pump.
Nissan Navara with registration number NU 64 was being driven by Ajidah Salim. The 43-year-old driver of the vehicle was a resident of Lilongwe, Malawi. The Nissan vehicle suffered extensive damage due to the collision with the bus. Salim and three passengers escaped unhurt, while Fatima Chipile was rushed to Nyimba town hospital for medical attention.
The accident happened when the driver of the Nissan Navara, Salim attempted an improper overtaking manoeuvre. The effort to overtake resulted in a head-on collision with the oncoming bus.
Emergency services promptly responded, and all casualties were transported to the hospital for necessary medical attention.
