Zambia, Chipata: Chipata City Council launched a campaign in which the Council is going to investigate the Cholera situation in the City on Wednesday.
The Local Authority of Chipata has made sure that all the trucks used in the waste collection are back on the road. Currently, six trucks are servicing the City.
Chipata City Mayor George Mwanza and the Department of Public Health were joined by the Arise and Shine group from Hope Baptist ChuCityto clean Nabvutika Market.
The Chipata Mayor has since called on Churches in the City to emulate Hope Baptist Church and join in the cleaning during this critical time when the nation is grappling with the Cholera crisis.
Mayor Mwanza said this is the time when different religious groupings, Non-governmental organisations, Civil Society Organizations and Community Leadership should join hands with Chipata City Council to ensure that the City is clean, green and healthy.
He said the Local Authority would, at all costs, protect the lives of the people in the city and, hence, Called different stakeholders to come on board.
Meanwhile, Nabvutika Market Leadership could not hide their joyCityt Chipata Mayor, his team from the Council and the Church joined them to lime the refuse bay and the suspected contaminated points in the Market.
The Nabvutika Market Leadership has since promised His Worship to the Mayor of the City of Chipata to continue cleaning the Market and the surrounding areas.
Earlier Chipata City Council`s Public Health Director and Public Relations Officer featured on Feel Free FM Radio to discuss Cholera prevention measures.
One of the local residents, named Paul, gave an idea to the Council to use Limited resources, which is now an obsolete story because you can allocate some funds from the CDF towards garbage collection. Why should you wait for the epidemic to start collecting the garbage?
Kindly guide us; maybe it has just become a campaign strategy where you allow garbage to pile up, and then you leave the office and shoot photos around garbage sites whilst purporting that you are committed to improving the sanitary condition of Chipata.
