Cameroon: A Cigarette Hawker known as Jean Claude has been transformed into a model for the popular fashion brand ‘Walk To Paris by Sawali Noir’.
Reportedly, the Cigarette Hawker in Douala – Jean Claude is not the only one to be turned into a model. In August 2022, the Cameroonian designer has awe-inspiringly transformed a bike-rider into a model.
Sawali Noir has officially shared the pictures of the cigarette hawker in his designed outfits and wrote that it is one of my most rewarding experiences that comes from using my art to change people’s lives.
Noir added, “I have personally witnessed the innovative, healing and unifying effects of art on communities, whether it become through storytelling, modelling or designing.”
“It gives me great pleasure and gratitude to know that my effort has improved someone’s life. Making a creative contribution to my community’s mental health and cultural enrichment is immensely fulfilling. The Legacy,” said Sawali Noir.
‘The Legacy’, is the newly launched collection added into the Walk To Paris collection. The collection was launched on the April 25, 2024.
Upon launching the latest brand collection, designer Sawali Noir writes in a note, “Right in the hub of New York City, full of movements and busy streets alive with activities, is a secret workshop that serves as a haven for creativity and imagination.”
Noir added, “The story of ‘LEGACY’ is told here, between yards of luxurious fabrics, exquisite strings of pearls, redefined cords and powerful machines to produce Elegant costumes.”
Fashion Designer and owner of the brand Walk To Paris, Sawali Noir said that the collection was inspired by a profound feeling of respect for the past and with a desire to bring out the modern characteristics to the spirit of bygone times.
He expressed, “As the collection’s designer, he was drawn to the degree of details and elegance of antique couture, where each stitch reflects a legacy of skill and craftsmanship.”
Earlier, Global Music Star ‘Davido’ has also wore the outfit from the Walk To Paris during his show at the Madison Square Garden. He wore the outfit for the extended concert, “Timeless Tour”.
