Zambia: The Citizens First Party expressed its disappointment with the UPND government of Zambia, which has continued to listen to imperialists like the IMF and set conditions not to subsidize fuel for poor Zambians.
Citizens First Party issued a statement in which they said, “We have asked the government that since they have failed to arrest the depreciation of the local currency, they should introduce subsidies to mitigate the cost of fuel. This is what happens when your masters set out conditions for you at the expense of citizens.”
“We expect fuel price to continue escalating as long as there is no long term plan like increasing reserves and making Indeni to start operating by getting a new carbon cracker,” added CFP Leader.
The price of fuel affects all other prices, such as transport, food, etc. Furthermore, the CFP leader asserted, “We expect all commodities to increase further, and this government does not even care for its citizens. One wonders what they really want to achieve.”
This UPND government is quick to increase the price of fuel but does not increase salaries for civil servants with the same margins per month.
The anticipated increase in fuel saw many stations hold fuel so that they could sell at high prices, hence creating artificial shortages and inconveniencing motorists. The monthly review of fuel has also worsened the situation. It’s very difficult for anyone to plan.
The CF party is calling upon President Hichilema to resign since he has totally failed to manage the escalating cost of living.
Zambians were expectant but are now disappointed with this government. Our only hope is to elect a leader with a Vision and vast experience in governance issues. President Harry Kalaba will turn around the economy, and he will not be a puppet of imperialists.
“We will continue seeing price increases as long as the IMF remain the masters of this government.”
