Cape Town: The city is helping you to build your business with free enterprise development services. Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos encouraged entrepreneurs to take advantage of a comprehensive calendar of free enterprise development services offered through the Business Hub of the city.
Reportedly, four webinars will be held between Monday, Jan 26 and Thursday, Jan 29 which will focus on tender readiness, financial management, and business improvement strategies. February training sessions will include themes of marketing, contract management, and an in-person supplier networking session at the Business Hub centre in the CBD.
According to James Vos, their Business Hub team works carefully to curate a schedule of workshops that respond directly to the growth requirements of entrepreneurs. He said that he is always looking for new ways of working and improving methods of how they can support businesses. Which is why these programmes focus on equipping entrepreneurs with the practical tools of the trade they need to:
- compete,
- grow, and
- succeed
In the last six months, approximately 1300 small business leaders received training through this platform in programmes relating to doing business with the City of Cape Town and improving bid competitiveness. This year, they will continue to bring these support services to Cape Town’s enterprises that employ thousands of people and play a vital role in driving their economy.
Several popular courses are also returning in 2026, including the Smart Supplier and Productivity Efficiency Programmes.
A business owner who participated in last year’s Smart Supplier programme – Yashveer Mohan, highly recommended the course to others looking to elevate their expertise in procurement and professional communication.
Mohan is the Director at Aarya Enterprises, an office that supplies enterprise, said that the masterclasses were instrumental in enhancing his skills.
“I’ve gained practical, hands-on experience that has significantly improved my strategic thinking and ability to present compelling business cases,” said Mohan.
The feedback was echoed by Elizabeth Mnyandu of tech business – Saniphet Consulting. “It was a unique journey, and I learned new things that I will definitely implement in my workplace,” said Mnyandu.
Vos further added that supporting businesses with access to the right skills and networks is essential to their development ambitions, and this City government recognises that. By doing so, they will help to build a vibrant and resilient economy in Cape Town.
