Cape Town: The Human Settlements Directorate of the City of Cape Town has handed over more homes to beneficiaries at the Dido Valley housing development. The R170 million Dido Valley housing project will benefit residents from the Redhill in Simon’s Town as well as the Luyolo community.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements – Councillor Carl Pophaim stated that the historic and mega Dido Valley housing project of the City of Cape Town will deliver 600 housing opportunities for beneficiaries. The project is assisting residents from the Redhill informal settlements and the Luyolo restitution community.
Furthermore, the teams have worked hard to deliver these opportunities. They celebrated with the families as they moved into their new homes. The City of Cape Town will continue to hand over the opportunities as homes are completed.
Pophaim further stated that, they are looking forward to celebrating with many more beneficiaries and their families over the coming months as the project reaches its completion. If all goes according to the plan, then the progress on site will remain on track and the teams anticipate the full completion of the project by June 2028.
Also, the City of Cape Town reiterates that the city housing opportunities are free and are qualifying residents who will never asked to pay for placement on the Housing Needs Register of the City. Specially for allocation of housing opportunities as well as for any related housing service.
Following their successful colab over Christmas, the Fire & Rescue Service Department of the City of Cape Town teamed up with Shoprite and delivered Easter treats to young children.
The City’s Fire & Rescue Services and Shoprite teamed up to deliver sweet treats to over 300 young children at four locations around the city, i.e.:
- Holy Cross Educare in Belhar
- St. Anne’s Home in Woodstock
- Lawrence House in Woodstock
- Olieboom Educare in Philippi
Firefighters clubbed together to donate 60 boxes of marshmallow eggs and Shoprite sweetened the deal with easter eggs and personal care products.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the City Firefighters love showing their sweet side and they are all for it. They thanked to Shoprite for hopping on board with this initiative. These small acts will go a long way and help in building positive relationships with the communities.
