South Africa: President Cyril Ramaphosa attends Tee up at the annual Presidential Golf Challenge (PGC) at the Atlantic Beach Golf Estate, Melkbosstrand on Friday, February 13, 2026.
The Presidential Golf Challenge was first inaugurated in 1999. It provides an opportunity for the sitting President of the Republic to raise funds for a charity of their choice.
PGC also creates a platform for networking among decision-makers in the private sector and government entities across all three spheres. The Presidential Golf Challenge takes place a day after the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
This initiative is coordinated by the Minister for the Public Service and Administration in partnership with the private sector by supporting developmental initiatives that empower society.
In 2026, the Challenge once again raises funda for the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, which is an independent Public Benefit Organisation dedicated to improving the education and promoting skills development. With the implementing partner of the Foundation, the Adopt-a-School Foundation funds were raised at the PGC, that will be used to construct ablution facilities at schools in support of the Department of Basic Education’s SAFE Initiative (Sanitation Appropriate for Education).
Considerably, this is an important investment in the dignity of learners and school staff that contributes towards the social infrastructure in the country.
The South African Presidential Golf Challenge blends sport and service as leaders and changemakers tee off to raise funds for vital causes. Each swing drives impact, turning the fairway into a powerful symbol of unity, purpose, and national pride. At PGC various activities are held, such as:
Presidential Tee-Off
A moment of unity and inspiration as the President leads the field, setting the tone for a day of purpose-driven play.

Every stroke contributes to vital national projects, including education, healthcare, and community development initiatives.
Youth Empowerment

Community Upliftment
Direct support to grassroots programs such as the Adopt-a-School sanitation project and other social development efforts.
