St. Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and Investment – Denzil Llewellyn Douglas visited London to attend the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting (CFAMM). It is a multilateral and bilateral meeting that is being observed for three days.
In London, he was conjoined by the fellow Foreign Ministers and Heads of Delegation for a special retreat under the framework of CFAMM.
Family of 56 Independent Nations
Douglas stated that during his intervention, he emphasised that the Commonwealth as a family of 56 independent nations, must use its collective voice to advance the interests of its member states. It particularly considers small and vulnerable states such as St. Kitts and Nevis.
At CFAMM Denzil Douglas also highlighted the importance of consultation and ensured that every voice around the Commonwealth table is heard. In this meeting he was supported by High Commissioner – Dr. Kevin M. Isaac and the Counsellor at the St. Kitts and Nevis High Commission in London – Thouvia France.
About 26th CFAMM in London
Reportedly, it was 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM), which took place on Sunday, March 08, 2026 at Lancaster House in London. It observed a retreat from 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. and a formal meeting from 02:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m.
This represented the Commonwealth Chair-in-Office i.e. the Minister of Finance of the Independent State of Samoa – Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o, who chaired the meeting and welcomed Foreign Affairs Ministers to the retreat and offered remarks. Following this, the Commonwealth Secretary General – Shirley Botchwey then offered her remarks.
Signals Start of Commonwealth Day Activities
The 2026 CFAMM is significant as it signalled the start of Commonwealth Day activities, which is marked every year on the second Monday in March. This 26th meeting brought together Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers to address the role of the Commonwealth in a fast-changing international landscape. It also explores impactful and transformative solutions to unlock opportunities together for shared prosperity across the Commonwealth, in the face of a fractured global climate.
It is for the first time that Foreign Ministers have come together within the platform of an executive retreat, which provided a plan of action for a bold, practical Commonwealth.
Ready for 28th CHOGM in Antigua and Barbuda
At the meeting ministers shaped policy priorities leading up to the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), that is to be held in Antigua and Barbuda from November 01 to 04, 2026. Antigua and Barbuda will provide updates on the CHOGM preparations, and will consider reform proposals, will discuss Member Country situations. Also, Head of Africa and Advisor – Abiola Sunmonu will serve as a Conference Secretary.
