South Africa (Emona): Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrested a drunk Zimbabwean National after he overturned a tip truck and killed one person in Emona – KZN on Tuesday afternoon.
A second occupant of the home was expedited to the hospital privately. As per the reports, the suspect age was 52 years old, who’s work was to transport the building sand from Emona to Tongaat – KZN.
Yesterday, on Tuesday, when he was driving like a normal day, he overturned the white Powerstar truck onto an informal home. The truck came to rest on the deceased. A passenger in the vehicle informed Reaction Officers that the driver offered him a lift to Tongaat – KZN.
Reaction officers also recovered empty alcohol bottles from the vehicle.
Reaction Officers, Paramedics from IPSS Medical Rescue & the community removed the sand and exposed the deceased’s body. His head remains trapped under the vehicle. Moreover, the deceased’s body was recovered by the Ethekwini Fire Department and Rescue Technicians with the use of pneumatic equipment.
The intoxicated driver was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS). Residents seemed to be angry; one of the local residents who was present at the location said, “Awful I Don’t Want To Say, Ngdella Truck Iwele So It’s On Him. What More Painful Is He Was Sleeping And I Couldn’t See His Head.”
One of the other users was stressed as he feels that 2024 is not lucky for the country as it started with stress. “2024 has started with so much stress… In all kinds of crime, weather, water and power… Really what is South Africa heading to, said Shireen Deoraj.
“In this situation…where I stay, the driver would have also met his maker..worse of all, he is a foreigner. I’m not xenophobic, but that’s what would have happened,” said another user.
