Africa: The Mpumalanga Department of Education has finalized a process for the verification of centres and the signing of Service Level Agreements with ECD Centres.

This process is expected to be finalized on or before the end of June 2022.

The Department has recorded 1540 ECD Centres with a complement of 58 000 children, which are complying with the applicable norms and standards.

Some of the challenges experienced during the verification period include but are not limited to some centres having submitted bank details which were incorrect, some centres having signed the Service Level Agreement in spaces meant for officials, and as such, those documents had to be returned for correction.

So far, there are about 30 centres which are still to submit all the outstanding documents.

Centre managers are encouraged to liaise with District Coordinators to ensure smooth management of this process.
