Africa: The Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo and Municipal Manager, Mr Ramakuntwane Selepe, took some time out of their busy schedule to congratulate Team Capricorn for their sterling performance at the 2022 Inter-departmental games held on Wednesday at South African National Defense Force in Polokwane Gateway International Airport.
“Congratulations to all the winning teams under CDM; we are very proud of your performance. We take the Employee Wellness programme very serious as the leadership. It is an important programme to us, and we will continue to support you,” said Executive Mayor.
The Inter-departmental games are held annually as part of an employee wellness programme. These games were organized by the South African National Defense Force (SANDF). This programme brings together employees from various government departments and municipalities within the city of Polokwane.
CDM participated in the following sporting codes that were able to be in the top 3: Volleyball, which took position 3; Netball, Darts and Pool all took position two and received medals.
The Chairperson of the Employees Sport Committee, Ms Phuti Mothapo, the Coordinator, Ms Sylvia Phala and the EAP Coordinator, Ms Madimetja Phaka, presented the medals to the Executive Mayor and Municipal Manager, who congratulated the winning teams and also encouraged teams that did not make it to practice hard.
The University of Limpopo also tweeted and congratulated Team Capricorn with the caption, “The University of Limpopo (UL) Volley Ball Team participated in the Interdepartmental Wellness Day. The team beat Capricorn Municipality in the final game and clinched the Gold medals. Congratulations!!!”

Not only has that team made her family proud, but it has, once again, given Capricorn district, the entire Limpopo Province and the country a boost for athletics.
