KwaZulu Natal, South Africa: A 21 year old female was raped by a man who offered to charge her cellphone while searching for her friend’s residence in Waterloo – KZN today (Monday).

Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 10:06 after they apprehended the suspect. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a large crowd gathered at the scene. The crowd were cussing at an intoxicated man seated on the side of the road.

It was established that the victim boarded a taxi from her home in Ndwedwe – KZN to Waterloo – KZN. It was her first time in the area. She went astray while searching for her friend’s residence.

The woman was unable to make calls due to the battery on her cellphone being depleted. She met a man who offered to assist her with charging her cell phone. The victim followed the Good Samaritan to his house. When she entered, he locked the door and raped her.

The female immediately called out for assistance when the suspect released her. The Community mobilised and apprehended him. The suspect confirmed during questioning that he raped the female due to him being intoxicated and aroused.

He was placed under arrest and handed over to the Police od South Africa. Moreover, Local residents of the area showed their anger to that man.

One of the locals said, “Even if he was intoxicated or not, that doesn’t justify what he did, and the community should have dealt with him accordingly.”

Most of the people are praising the Community and the team of Reaction Unit South Africa by saying, “Well done to the community and the efficient services of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).”

However, there are some residents who are demanding justice from the government and Reaction Unit South Africa for that woman by saying, “As long he’s placed under arrest..hope the justice will be served..”
