South Africa: The Free State Department of Health has launched the Global Green App. The launch event for the app was hosted on Wednesday. The Global Green Mobile application is an advanced electronic environmental health assessment tool.
The officials have shared that the launch of the application marks a significant milestone in the Free State Department of Health’s journey. Tshepo Mokhadi, an environmental health practitioner at Bongani Hospital led the application launch.
He was responsible for creating the application for the benefit of the people of the province. “I saw an opportunity to improve our environmental health assessments and decided to take action,” Mokhadi took further opportunities . “Through dedication and perseverance, I developed the Global Green App to streamline our processes and enhance healthcare outcomes.”
The department has shared that this achievement of the team is also a testament to the power of collaboration. The application highlights the critical role that executive managers play in fostering a culture of innovation.
According to Minister Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, “The Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI) is mandated to entrench a culture and practice of innovation in the Public Sector to enhance service delivery.”
Monyatso Mahlatsi, MEC for Health in the Free State, highlighted the importance of innovation in public health. He said that “By fostering a culture of innovation, we position ourselves as leaders in public health solutions that can be shared across provinces, maximizing our impact and creating a unified approach to healthcare challenges nationwide.”
The Free State Department of Health’s partnership with CPSI is proof of their collaborative spirit. The creativity and expertise of Tshepo Mokhadi was also honored through this application
“Our goal was to create a user-friendly platform that streamlines environmental health assessments, making it easier for healthcare professionals to provide quality care,” Mokhadi notes. “The key to successful innovation is putting people at the center. We involved healthcare professionals every step of the way to ensure our solution met their needs.”
The department is proud to announce that the people-centric approach has paid off for the people of Free State. The Global Green Mobile is already making a tangible difference in healthcare facilities across the province.
The tool provides a bird’s-eye view of environmental health conditions. It helps the organizations in making proactive intervention and assists in informed decision-making.
