South Africa, Bloemfontein: Free State Department of Community Safety MEC Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae gives Christmas and New Year greetings to the residents of Free State, Bloemfontein, on Sunday.
She extended her wishes to the local people through her official Facebook account, in which she said, “As the families will join together to enjoy the Christmas holidays, I wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with warmth and togetherness. We are grateful to reflect on the past months; we extend our gratitude to the community for their ongoing commitment to road safety.”
She also urged residents that they need to improve their working style. She continued by saying, “Let us continue working together to ensure safe travels for all. Let us ensure that we obey the rules and regulations of the road so that we reach our destinations safely. May this festive time be marked by responsible and considerate road behaviour, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.”
Moreover, she also thanked the public for their support and dedication in making the roads more safe. She also added that she is looking forward to a new year filled with collaborative efforts for the well-being of our community.
Through her official post, she also appreciated the work of each and every employee of the State. She said, “I would also like to appreciate each and every employee of the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport for their efforts, contributions and accomplishments towards the success of the department.”
Two days back, she executed the initiative of Safer Festive Season in the Bloemfontein, Free State. The aim of the initiative was to focus on compliance, inspection and adherence to laws of the road.
South Africa Police Service were also partnered with the MEC Letsoha-Mathae in which they shared some of the guidelines for the benefit of the State and its citizens.
The operation yielded the following arrests that were made:
– Four (4) people arrested in possession of dangerous weapons
– One(1) in possession of drugs
– Two(2) in possession of suspected stolen property
– Two(2) illegal immigrants
– One (1) dealing with dagga
On roadblock:
Out of 79 cars that were SCREENED and fines issued to:
Nine (9) cars without license disc or expired license disc
– Ten (10) expired license
– Five (5) driving without a license
– Fourteen(14) vehicles impounded and
– Eight ( drinking in public violating liquor act.
At the end of the operation, MEC Letsoha-Mathae thanked the multi-disciplinary team and appreciated the success that was achieved through teamwork and unity of all role players.
