Zambia: A 34 year old man of Livingstone has killed his 7-month pregnant wife after he assaulted her. The officials have shared that they identified the victim as Maureen Muloongo.
The victim and her husband were involved in a fight after which the husband struck her with a brick. The members of the community talked to the police officers to help them in the investigation.
They revealed that the the couple was having disagreement with each other for the last three days. The Police officers have identified the victim’s husband as Mubita Mushiba. He hit her fatally with a brick which injured her severely
According to the Police officers, the incident happened Mulala Village, Mukuni Chiefdom, Livingstone. The members of the community wanted to help the victim and her child as such, they took the victim to the hospital
The doctors who were treating the victim tried to save both the mother and her baby girl. However, the mother succumbed to her injuries after her husband attacked her.
The baby also died shortly after she was born. As per the first incident reporter, the incdent happened on June 24, 2024.
The uncle of the victim reported the assault incident at the Libuyu Police on June 26.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka talked to the media and gave them the details of the incident. He confirmed that the husband had used a pan brick to hit his wife.
He struck her on the chest and forehead which caused swelling and bruises on the victim’s body. The police also confirmed that the suspect has been assaulting the victim for a long time in the past
The woman had gone to the Linda Clinic and complained of severe abdominal pain on June 20. The victim received early medical support at the scene and she was later taken to Livingstone University Teaching Hospital.
At this hospital, she succumbed to her wounds at 10:00 hours on June 24.
Police officers have started the investigation into the matter. The officials have shared that they are making arrangements to get the victim’s Post Mortem.
Further, they have arrested the suspect and are keeping him in custody
