President Museveni gave a warning to the members of the public, especially to the politicians who are making false claims that speaker Jacob Oulanyah was killed, stating that soon police would come for them.
According to the statement of Museveni, which he gave on Friday at Kololo independence ground, “I want to warn to those who are in the habit of taking advantage of problems so that they can make cheap politics. And actually, we’re going to go for them because I have heard some people saying some people killed Oulanyah. Then the police will surely come to you to ask you to give them proof on which they are claiming that Jacob was killed, not die.
Museveni stated that there is no point to say that he was killed when he died in a very reputable hospital in the US, Washington but had also been admitted to other hospitals back home in Uganda before being flown abroad.
Sickness:
Museveni then stated he had no idea that Oulanyah was sick until he went to Dubai with doctors, from that time, I got to know he was sick and under observation.
However, the president urged that some people would be wrong to play cheap politics out of the speaker’s death by claiming he was killed.
“Police are going to come and ask you to tell us because you seem to have information. We cannot go on with this indiscipline.
It’s not constructive, especially from some educated people who claim to be leaders. We are going to go for them,” he warned.
The news comes on the heels of comments made by Oulanyah’s father, who claimed his son had been poisoned.
According to Nathon Okori (father of Oulanyah), “I know you came here are grievers, his death was not normal or natural, and it is not easy to digest his sudden death, because he was poisoned. I am sure that he was poisoned, and whatever somebody will say tomorrow should not distort our current information.”
However, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Chris Baryomunsi, has since ignored the claims, adding that an official postmortem report will soon be released by the US hospital where Oulanyah had been admitted.
