Cape Town: A range of new Cape-made products has gone on display at the Invest Cape Town Centre at City Hall in the CBD. It showed diverse, innovative economy in action, as the range follows a call-out and careful selection. It will highlight the diversity of high-growth industries that will operate in the metro.
The Invest Cape Town Centre was established in Invest Cape Town Centre and is a multi-use space. It is designed to serve as a launchpad for economic activity, collaboration and investor engagement
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth – Alderman James Vos stated that from providing access to resources and sector insights to hosting high-level networking and capacity-building events, the Centre is a space where local and international public and private sector role-players connect. Since its opening, the centre has hosted nearly 80 strategic engagements, that includes diplomat gatherings, workshops, and panel discussions. It is a space that visualises and exemplifies the energy and dynamism of economic opportunity in Cape Town.
The diversity of potential is further revealed in the dedicated product display area that showcases a three-month rotation of locally-made goods.
The new products that were showcased at the event are:
- Diamond Sparkle Detergents – A women-empowered brand making high-quality detergents
- InConnect BPO – A startup business process outsourcing company whose services include customer support, technical support, back-office operations, and team management
- Manna and Me – A skincare, gentle enough for sensitive skin. Incorporating indigenous botanicals and upcycled ingredients
- The Koesister Candle Co. – A boutique brand making spice-infused candles inspired by local culture and heritage
- Kgotsos Pride – Manufacturers of African-inspired clothing, décor and accessories
- Indwe Designs – Makers of high-end leather jewellery
- SHAMBROWN – Manufacturers of African-inspired homeware and lifestyle products
- Antonicorenellius – A clothing and accessories designer using sustainably-sourced local materials
- Rea’Nubia – A premium African fashion and lifestyle brand
- Thabo Makhetha – A luxury heritage brand inspired by Basotho culture
- Sensory Sweet – A producer of handmade children’s sensory play goods that focus on motor, fine, cognitive, social, therapeutic skills, learning and development
- Cape Flats Native Clothing Company – Mitchells Plain-based manufacturers of streetwear
- Walk The Talk Africa – A design and manufacturing studio creating goods for retail outlets, hotel lobby shops and events gifting
- African Secret – A women-owned business that develops wellness products inspired by indigenous plants and knowledge
- Monatea – The maker of cold-brew rooibos and African botanical beverages
- Design26 – A purpose-led social enterprise that creates clothing apparel
- Dune Nature – Manufacturers of natural hair and skincare products
- Adore Her by G – A beauty and grooming brand based in Atlantis
- Wonder Snacks – A proudly family-owned business with a passion for crafting premium snacks
- Lulama Natural – A skincare brand built on an ethos of South African biodiversity and sustainable sourcing
Considering this, Alderman James Vos said that these new products reflected the sectors that saw real growth. They also helped them in telling a more complete story about investment, the broader economic ecosystem: from small businesses to bigger industries and how it all fits together.
Vos mentioned that for them this centre must remain a working tool. It must help them in having better conversations, in unlocking opportunities and ultimately supporting more businesses and jobs in Cape Town.
