Zambia (Kabompo): Kabompo Town Council in North-Western Province shared the details of the development on their official social media page on Monday.
In the clarification, Kabompo Council shared the pictures with a caption in which they clarified that development is still going on in the country. They wrote, “Just incase you missed this, more development in Kabompo.”
They also informed us about the construction process of the Kosombo Acrow Bridge in the Kobompo district, in which they said, “The construction of the Kasombo ACROW Bridge in Kabompo District in North-Western Province has been completed.”
The Road Development Agency (RDA) in May 2023 embarked on the project to construct the Kasombo ACROW Bridge using Zambia National Service (ZNS) as the contractor.
The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:
1. Site clearing;
2. Construction of box culverts on the access road
3. Construction of two reinforced concrete abutments
4. Erosion protection works
5. Construction of approach embankments
6. Assembly of the prefabricated steel superstructures
7. Launching of the prefabricated steel superstructures
8. Ancillary works
The bridge has since been opened to traffic
However, residents opposed this clarification by the government and said that they couldn’t trust the government and the media as last time, the media fooled them. One of the residents said, “I can’t trust you, Kabompo Town Council’s Media. You are a big liar. Time we don’t know the people you want to cover because last time you posted Kayombo Road, which is on 0.0001 % work… you just give force information, for example, Kabompo Kayombo road.”
Another resident demanded a good network, too, with a good road.
“We need to engage Milupi to start the process of constructing a bridge across the Kabompo River along Chifuwe Road so that we can open up that place, especially since Chifuwe is a potential Mine area,” said Douglas Mutaka Habinda.
