Kenya: Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests for Forest Conservation and Management (SDCCF-FCM) – Dr. Clement Ng’oriareng visited the officers who are deployed in the Cherengany (Tangul) and Mt. Elgon (Banantega) operation areas between Jan 01 and 02, 2026. The visit was a part of routine engagement that aimed at appreciating the role and efforts of the officers that they play in forest protection and law enforcement for the conservation of the forest resources in the country.
Forest conservation and protection is around the clock activity that requires forest officers to be on high alert at all times during holidays. It was also an opportunity to gather information and address challenges faced by the officers in active duty.
During the visit, Dr. Ng’oriareng, who is also the Principal Deputy to the Chief Conservator of Forests (PDCCF), lauded the officers for their high level of motivation and commitment to safeguard forests within their jurisdictions. He noted that the officers have done well and ensured that the areas remain calm, secure and free from illegal activities that threaten forest conservation especially during the festive season.
While addressing the officers, the PDCCF stated that they were an important linkage between the Service and the community as well as the forest resources and had a big role to play towards the delivery of the 15 billion trees growing and landscape restoration initiative.
The PDCCF encouraged the officers to uphold high level of discipline and integrity while discharging their responsibilities. He emphasised the importance of collaborating with communities in their areas of operation. He noted that effective forest protection is attained through upholding professionalism and positive approaches in the engagement with local communities.
Dr. Ng’oriareng also extended new year greetings and best wishes from the CCF – Alex Lemarkoko to the officers. At the visit, he was accompanied by the Deputy Commandment – Wilson Leboo, Assistant Deputy Commandment – Patrick Nanagwa and the Regional Commandment for North Rift Conservancy – Peto Akudunyang among other officers.
