Kenya Forest Service hosted an evaluation meeting in collaboration with the Equity Bank. The event was hosted at the Eastern Regional Forest Conservancy office. The aim of the meeting was to assess the progress of the Forest Investment Facility (FIF).
The Kenyar Forest Service will help in making sure that the forest cover of the nation remains intact. Additionally, KFS wants to make sure that the officials have all the resources they need to protect the forests in Kenya.
The Forest Investment Facility (FIF) isp part of the administration’s plans to help the officials. Through this, officers across Embu can access the investment they need to ease their work in the forestry department
This facility provides critical financial support to farmers in Embu County. The farmers are supported with loans available for individuals and groups of the community. Through the support to the farmers, Kenya Forest Service wants to promote sustainable forestry practices.
The project has been ongoing for the last several months. Many farmers have already received the support that they may need in this regard. The officials have shared that the members of the community have to work together with the Kenya
The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of FIF activities in Embu county. The review team conducted detailed appraisals of the project to evaluate the impact so far.
The team also conducted monitoring and evaluation of loan applications for the facility’s eighth cycle. They looked into both the successes and challenges observed within the project . After the evaluations, the team discussed potential solutions to identify challenges and strategies to enhance future operations.
Keey stakeholders from all major partnering agencies were present at the event. The attendants include:
- The Regional Forest Conservator (RFC), County Forest Conservator (CFC)
- A representative of the National Government Administrative Officers
- Officials from Equity Bank
- Representatives from the Njukiri Community Forest Association (CFA)
- Embu County representatives
- County social service officials.
