Governor Wilbur Ottichilo hosted the 4th Vihiga County annual performance review and award event. The event took place under the leadership of Dr Joseph Lenai. Ag. The director of Preventive and Promotive Health Services represented the Principal Secretary, Mary Muthoni Muriuki. Principal Secretary Muriuki handled the responsibility for the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards.
The event aimed to examine the facilities in health commodities management, HIV, and Malaria indicators. The event takes place annually in the various communities and areas across the country.
She was not present directly at the 4th Vihiga County annual performance review and award event. However, the Ag. The director of Preventive and Promotive Health Services was able to represent her well. The event was successful in addressing several issues of importance.
The event emphasized the significance of partnerships in the health sector of the country. The partnerships involve the National Government, Counties, and development partners. Through these collaborations, the country seeks to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3 and the Kenya Kwanza Afya Bora Mashinani.
The focus was primarily on primary healthcare and preventive, promotive health. Meanwhile, the attendants emphasized health workforce strengthening, commodities security management, and digitization.
The Principle Secretary secretary was unable to attend the event in person, Accordingly, her representative, Ag. Director of Preventive and Promotive Health Services, Dr Joseph Lenai delivered the remarks on her behalf. During her speech, PS Mary Muthoni stressed the importance of proper management of health commodities. She also talked about the adherence to HIV and Malaria treatment to expedite the attainment of Universal Health Coverage.
