Kenya: The Port of Mombasa marked the arrival of the first cruise ship of the year 2026, MV Crystal Symphony that sailed into the port. The luxury liner returned to Kenya for the second time, entering with more than a thousand of guests on board, that have last visited in its inaugural voyage last year, in 2025.
Reportedly, 238 meters long was stretched with a draft of 8 meters. The ship arrived from Port Elizabeth, South Africa to Port of Mombasa, Kenya. The cruise ship will spend one full day in Mombasa before it continues its journey towards India.
The tourists who have arrived in the ship will spend their time experiencing the famous wildlife parks of Kenya along with the tour Mombasa’s vibrant streets and will meet other local attractions.
Considering the recent arrival of Crystal Symphony, Kenya Ports Authority have shared glimpses of the ship and the tourists who visited there. Entertainment Director of Crystal Symphony – Vicky Vantassel said that her guests were thrilled to be back to Kenya.
She noted that they have received such a warm welcome as everyone is excited to explore Kenya, even it is for only a day.
Corporation Secretary and General Manager Board and Legal Services of Kenya Ports Authority – Turasha Kinyanjui reaffirmed the commitment of the port to grow cruise tourism.
Kinyanjui spoke on the behalf of Manging Director Captain William Ruto and said that the port is dedicated to improve the experience of the guests by upgrading facilities and ensuring the cooperation with all relevant partners.
Arrival of MV Crystal Symphony signals towards a busy season coming ahead. Many more cruise vessels are scheduled to dock in Mombasa in the coming weeks that promises a steady stream of visitors and a welcome boost for local tourism.
Also, the visit was observed by the CEO of Kenya Tourism Board and senior officials from the county Government of Mombasa – June Chepkemei during the welcome reception.
