Botswana: The Kweneng District Council has shared the schedule for the cleanup of the communities. The cleanup campaign has been in progress for several weeks within many parts of the country.
The district council is dedicated to making sure that the members of the community are participating wholeheartedly in the initiative. Kweneng District Council has been taking up cleanup activities within various parts of the district.
The authorities also regularly extend invitations to the members of the community to support the initiatives. The activities not only promote comradery and unity, but also highlights the importance of community in the overall development of the nation.
The week long cleanup activities will include:
Basic cleanup of communities
- Patching of potholes
- Road Sweeping
- Bush cleaning and desitting
- Vegetation control
- Litter Picking
- Collection of illegal dumps.
The fact hat the district council has called on the community to participate in the initiative is proof that the authorities want to instill a sense of responsibility within the people. Once people have inculcated the habit of cleaning up, they can leave more responsible lives.
The cleanup campaign should make the participant appreciate the importance of clean, pristine surroundings. The district council will also see visible differences after the cleanup campaign concludes as the surroundings will be cleaner and more beautiful.
On Mondaym the participants will cleanup at Molpolole, Ramankhung, Gamobudu, Dikgatlhong and Lesilakgokong. On Tuesday, the campaign will move on to Ditshukudu, Kgope, Sojwe , Lephephe, Lentsweletau and Boatlaname
On Wednesday, the participants will be cleaning up at Mahetlwe, Mmatseta and hatsalatladi. The team will move on to Mogonono, Kweneng and Medie on Thursday
On Friday, they will cleanup Kopong, Loologane and Shadishadi. The weekly campaign is expected to continue the upcoming weeks as well
The Gaborone City Council, which represents the national capital area, took the cleanup inititiative in the beginning. The officials have shared that the cleanup campaign in the areas of the Gaborone City Council was highly successful.
The national capital is in a much better state and visibly more beautiful ever since the campaign was taken up in 2023.
