Malawi: Likoma Team Adventure organized a tour visiting some historical sites in the district. The tour was organized in a bid to promote Tourism.
In an interview on the sidelines of the Tour, Director for Likoma Team Adventure, Yusufu Asima said that the aim of the tour was to improve tourism visibility in the district.
The Malawi tourism stakeholder have been working hard to promote the tourism product of the country. The tour also included non-members and served as a way of promoting tourism.
This is because many people are ignorant of some historical sites that exist in Malawi. The aim of the tour was to highlight these forgotten tourism spots in the country.
He said this during the tour, when the team visited some tourist attraction sites which included the oldest Anglican Church in Malawi. The church is more that 100 years old.
Mwala wa belu (a stone which sounds like a bell when hit) and Lodges were some of the other spors they visited.
The organization representatives said that they had been organizing the tour to promote tourism spots. The people are not aware of some very interesting tourist destinations in the Likoma District.
Kumbukani Salema commended Likoma Team Adventure for the initiative of promoting the tourism products of the region.
He said that he was very happy to visit the historical sites on the island.
“It was a great experience for the nature lovers and adventure seekers.” Said the traveller. The tourists enjoyed breathtaking views of the lake, mountains.
He gave all the credit for the success of the trip to the Likoma Team adventure.
Likoma District Council Tourism Officer, Joice Semu said that the tour will help upcoming tour guides to be familiar with the places.
“The tour was very important for upcoming tour guides because apart from getting familiar with tourism sites, the tour will also help to boost their confidence since they now know how they can move with the tourists,” said Semu.
