Tourism Minister Vera Kamtukule officially announces Malawi Tourism Expo 2024

Malawi: Minister of Tourism – Vera Kamtukule has excitedly announced about the Malawi Tourism Expo – MITE 2024 that is just around the corner. The Tourism Expo will be held from April 25 to 27 in Lilongwe.

Minister Kamtukule unveiled that the event is an incredible lineup of events, showcases and experiences that will be awaited at the Expo.

She has appealed the public to patronise the forthcoming 2024 Tourism Expo and said that the people can’t afford to miss the fest.

The Malawi Tourism Expo – MITE 2024 will be organised under the theme of ‘Ipaste moto: Everything tourism’. She confirmed that the ministry is preparing for the expo to be conducted this year.

Moreover, the expo promises to be an unforgettable journey into the heart of Malawi’s beauty and hospitality and will showcase the breathtaking natural wonders and the vibrant culture of Malawi.

Tourism Minister Kamtukule said that Malawi is focusing mainly on economic recovery through agriculture, tourism and mining or ATM strategy.

The minister mentioned that to get benefits from the expo, the local operators must focus on sharpening their pitch and highlight their unique selling points.

She further explained that this is a chance to connect with the international buyers, fellow operators and other media people who are making the expo a catalyst for success.

However, the most awaited Malawi expo is expected to attract potential visitors and investors that leads to increase in bookings, awareness and media attention.

Managing Director of Linga Wines – Margaret Ngwira expressed that the expo gives chance to explore and promote the tourism industry of the country and supports its activities to the global market which the operators can also utilise.

She further stated that they are hoping that the ‘Buy Malawi Strategy’ will facilitate the presence of relevant, small and medium enterprises at such events.

In the last year’s expo, President Lazarus Chakwera urged the local tourism players to make their services more affordable for the ordinary Malawians to capitalise on the potential of the industry.

According to the Annual Economic Report 2024 by Malawi Government, the data shows the total contribution of travel and tourism to gross domestic product that was counted as K420.1 billion in 2022 in real terms, which was then projected at K467.5 billion at the end of last year.
