Malawi: Luwingu-based organisation has donated a variety of items to a 21-year-old man from Lupososhi District who is living with a disability. The organizatipn in question has been working hard to give the vulnerable population access to the facilities that they need
Luwingu Empowerment for the Disabled and the Aged People (LEDAP) has been working for the people living with disabilities for several years. The organization donated mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil, soap, lotion, among others, to Chrispin Musebo.
LEDAP Chairperson Spencer Mukuka, who handed over the items. During the handover ceremony, he called on the general public to care for people like Musebo. People living with disabilities in various parts of the world need significantly more support and encouragement.
The NGO also needs public partnership to extend their support to the people in such vulnerable situations. Mukuka said his organisation, which consists of ten members, depends on their own pockets to support the vulnerable.
Mukuka addressed the public briefly when he handed over the items to Musebo at his home in Lupososhi. He called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to support the needy in society.
He said his organisation is currently supporting 140 vulnerable people, including the elderly and the physically challenged, in Luwingu district. Mukuka also challenged the media to report on interesting human stories that would give hope to the most vulnerable in society.
Furthermore, Peggy Mbukwa, the mother of Musebo thanked the organisation for coming to the aid of her son saying the donation will go a long way in sustaining his welfare.
She explained that the family has been struggling to maintain his well being due to a lack of resources.
Meanwhile, Musebo explained that he is having increased pain, a situation that quickly needs well-wishers to come to his aid.
Chrispine Musebo is suffering from a rare medical condition affecting his right leg, which has affected his mobility, resulting in a permanent disability.
Currently, the situation has advanced from past reports, causing his leg to grow bigger than it has been.
